74 Lalbagh Flower Show

Click here to view photos from 2011 Republic Day Flower Show
Biannual flower shows are organized every year in January and August on the occasion of the Indian Republic Day and Independence Day celebrations respectively. The event takes palce in Lalbagh Botonical Garden, Bangalore. I'll post more photo's and information of Lalbagh in the future post now let me share few photo's from the flower show.

A theme is picked for every the flower show and the flowers are arranged accordingly. This years Independence Day flower show theme was Gateway of India, 1000's of roses were used to make this gigantic structure in the form of Gateway of India.

another shot from a different angle

A closeup shot gives a better idea of how the rose's are arranged.

This huge Gateway of India made out of thousands of roses left the visitor's amazed

But the real show stopper was 260 different varieties of orchids (I thought I'll make a seperate post just with Orchid flowers, will be posting soon). Looking at the beauty of these flowers everyone wanted a Orchid plant for their home (So did I). Many nursery's had set up a stall and were selling different variety of Orchid plants but they were heavily prized. Probably this was the time for them to cash in.

The event draws many companies and nursery's from all over india to participate and also 1000's of visitor's, as per the local newspaper close to 7000 people are visiting every day, I went there early morning hoping to get some nice shots of the flowers but i was taken by surprise by the crowd already present there.

Visitor's were asked to keep moving to make way for other's. I was in a point, click and move situation and so was everyone else.

All the beautiful flowers there did put a smile on the visitor's face :)

Here are some more flower photo's from the event, many were common flowers....

Some looked alien....

and some like under water creatures..... Mother nature is so creative isnt it?

Ohooiii Anthony, what a wonderful experience, almost as you can feel the great smell all the way to Norway :-)

Not just klima for all this flowers in my country, even if we have great sunny days just now. But I have to say this summer has been cold...

The trip to Italy is finish :-( but we all had nice days, so much beautiful to see even in that country. Rent a car, not expensive at all, and we traveld a lot. Only sunbathing is othing for me, I have also have to se deifferent things. A day in Pompeii was the greatest, all that history!!! So funny taking pictures ther also.

One week of my sommer holiday left, then back to work.

I can se you have changed the view of you blog, and I hav to say that I like that to, just love your pictures as you know.

Many many hugs from Anne

The 'flower tower' is the most beautiful display that I have seen for a lolng time. So many gorgeous roses and so intricately displayed. I too would have loved one of those orchids. I have two in my courtyard but was not blessed with blooms this year. I will have to pay them more attention next season. Thank you so much for your post. It has been a pleasure to look at.
