Lalbagh Flower Show 2012

Annual Flower show at Lalbagh Botanical Garden started on Jan 20 2012 as part of Republic Day celebration, this also happens to be the 100th year since Dept of Horticulture started the flower show.
Main attraction this year is South Korean Buddha Stupa made out of 4,00,000 flowers which includes Roses, Carnations, Orchids and foliages. This 30 foot tall stupa is placed in the center of the Glass House.
Expert florists from Holland have decorated a part of glass house adding international touch to the show, they have a live counter where they demonstrate floral arrangements of different style to the visitors. 20 different varieties of flowers are imported from Holland are showcased in the glass house. (Pic Below - Florist from Holland in action)
This beautiful arrangement of Floral Flow (Picture below) is made by a Fern Hills Farm Ooty, stream of water appears to be flowing from pipe forming a river bed, 90,000 alstromeria and carnations are used for this arrangement.

Few other attractions are huge peacocks made out of flowers, 150+ different variety of Bonsai plants on display, Mahabaratha Chariot made out of sand. Floating flowers at Lalbagh lake (i.e floral arrangements made on floating rafts made of bamboo).  This show attracts visitors with varying interest, lot of artists can be seen making a sketches and paintings of these exotic flowers on the spot.
Its a paradise for photographers, be it a professional or casual.
According to the organizers 10,00,000 visitors are expected to storm the flower show and I am sure these beautiful flowers will put a SMILE on everyone's face :)
