28 In The Field

Thanks to Kala and many others for suggesting a title for this image.

Above is a photo of women working in paddy field, sight like this is common throught India.  India has the largest paddy output in the world and also the second largest exporter of rice in the world.  Paddy is cultivated at least twice a year in most parts of India and paddy cultivation plays a major role in social and cultural life of rural India. Many festivals such as Onam in Kerala, Bihu in Assam, Sankranthi in Andhra Pradesh Thai Pongal In Tamil Nadu, Makara Sankranthi in Karnataka, Nabanna in West Bengal celebrates harvest of Paddy.

Great photo as always, Sam. I'm not sure what title I would give, but it does look as though the women are doing the work! Hope you and your lovely bride are having a terrific week!

Makes me appreciate rice even more, People work very hard to produce our food. I sort of thought rice grew all by itself. I've never seen anyone in the rice fields, that I've driven by.
